With effect from 1 December 2009, Steubing AG will be acting as an XETRA bond trading specialist in cooperation with Walter Ludwig Wertpapierhandels GmbH. This move follows the introduction by Deutsche Börse of a new trading model, the “Fortlaufende Auktion mit Spezialist” or FAMS (literally, Continuous Auction with Specialist). Under this new model, specialists oversee trading and provide liquidity, thereby ensuring that also for small order volumes the instruments in question can be traded at high-quality prices. The new service is designed in particular to benefit small to medium-sized institutional investors. In addition to Steubing AG, only two other companies have been appointed to perform this specialist role. or FAMS (literally, Continuous Auction with Specialist). In Walter Ludwig Wertpapierhandels GmbH, Steubing AG has succeeded in recruiting a partner who has amassed vast expertise in the bond market over the past two decades, as well as establishing an international base of customers and correspondent brokers. Walter Ludwig will provide together with Steubing AG tradable quotes for the securities assigned to Steubing in its specialist capacity. For our part, our company has intensively developed its bond trading segment in recent months. In addition to our technical expertise and experience in international stocks and bonds settlements, we will also be providing access to our excellent capital funding as part of the new partnership.

 

Initially some 700 euro-denominated corporate bonds will be tradable via this new model. In the course of time, however, it is intended to integrate other types of instrument (federal and regional government bonds, etc.) as well.
